About Retail Ireland Skillnet

We are Ireland’s leading provider of training and education programmes designed specifically for the retail sector. We are a government-funded body and partnered with Ibec and Retail Ireland. Founded in 2000, we work very closely with Irish retailers to develop training that addresses existing and emerging skills needs within their businesses.

Our vision is make retail a career of choice through the provision of innovative and transformational training and education programmes. We are passionate about combining real-world retail experiences with academic and technical knowledge to develop retail employees’ skills.

Apprenticeship in Retail Supervision

This is our flagship training programme since 2019. We deliver the Apprenticeship in Retail Supervision programme in Dublin, Cork, and Galway. The Level 6 Retail Apprenticeship programme is free and has an annual intake of 180 apprentices commencing every year in September

Degree in Retail Management Practice

Since 2012 we have delivered the Degree in Retail Management Practice in collaboration with the Atlantic Technological University (formerly LYIT). On successful completion of the 3-year Level 7 programme, learners can progress on to the Level 8 programme. Fees are 60% subsidised

As a government-funded body we are able to subsidise the cost of our training to make upskilling more accessible to retailers of all sizes. We offer a range of short courses which can be delivered in the classroom or online. We constantly update our course offering to address the ever-changing skills challenges. All our courses are designed in collaboration with the Retail sector. Training can be tailored to address the specific training challenges faced by a retail organisation.

We are a funded Skillnet Ireland Network. Skillnet Ireland is funded by the National Training Fund through the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science. To avail of our training or funding, you do not need to be a member of Ibec or Retail Ireland.
